God Saw You
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So he put His arms around you
and whispered, "Come to me,"
With tearful eyes we watched
as we saw you pass away
And though we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the BEST.

I've carried a copy of this poem in my wallet for nearly 12 years since my mom passed away in 1996, and it has brought me great comfort. My aunt gave it to me when my mom passed away, so when appropriate I try to pass it on to others.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and touching.
